C/Base -- National Introduction of Webcertificate.com

The challenge was to manage the national launch of the first universally accepted online gift certificate. Developed by an Internet start up based in Conshohocken, the story competed for center stage amongst hundreds of other "dot-coms" and Internet giants such as Amazon.com. Using several soft launches timed with major events over the holidays, we were able to generate a publicity momentum that started in the online news community and crossed over into mainstream publications. Coverage included: front page in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Business Week International, USA Today, AP, and a special segment by CNN that was fed to more than 500 TV news programs across the country, and an exclusive one-on-one interview with the CEO on CNNfn. The increased coverage led to a Wall Street Journal profile piece and a caricature of the company president in the "Under-the-Radar" section. The client generated thousands of new accounts and a desired high profile in the online community that continues to reap rewards and opportunities.
